Sprinkler repair

Sprinkler timer not watering?

Often it’s a rain sensor holding the system off, a programming slip, or the water supply being shut.

Check this first

  1. Check the rain sensor. If the display says the sensor is off, slide the sensor switch to Bypass to test (Hunter).
  2. Check the program: a start time is set, AM/PM and the clock are right, today is a watering day, and each station has a run time (Hunter).
  3. Check seasonal adjust. A setting below normal shortens every run time (Rain Bird).
  4. Is the water on? After winter shutdown you must open the irrigation supply valve (Hunter).
  5. Controller shows watering but nothing runs? Open a valve by hand. If water flows, check valve and common-wire connections; if not, look for a closed supply or master valve (Hunter). See zone won’t turn on.
